Third year

Home: Bedford, NH

Why are you here? I came back for my third year because I want to be a true man of God, and because I believe Fairwood is one of the best places to receive training for that purpose. Also, I wanted to have a chance to study the parts of the Bible my first two years didn't cover and to be in a place where God is the primary focus.

A favorite Bible verse: I John 3:20 "For whenever our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and He knows everything."

Interest(s): Piano, singing, languages, photography, beauty

One thing I like about God: One thing I really like about God is that He gives us so much beauty to enjoy. He invented music and all its complex principles; He made some pretty breathtaking terrain, supplementing it with plants and animals whose beauty defies description; He created us--man-kind--and all our different personalities, talents, customs, faces, and bodies; and He gave us the ability to appreciate all these beauties. Finally, and most importantly, He created a beautiful plan to enable us to join Him in heaven, where the beauty can only be richer and deeper. I kind of like that. God is good.

First year

Home: Woodcliff Lake, NJ

Why are you here? I believe the classes that are offered here, and the mentors who are teaching them, will have a significant impact on strengthening my relationship with God.

  This past summer I realized that I was at a crossroads in my life, and recognized my need for solid, Godly relationships with my peers. I believe I have found such friendships with the young men and women here at Fairwood; friendships that I am confident will last a lifetime.

  I have found Fairwood Bible Institute to be a place where I can live in community with others who share a similar standard of Godly living and a love for Israel.

A favorite Bible verse: Jeremiah 29:11 "'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.'"

Interest(s): Singing, music, reading, interior decorating, lively debates, volleyball, meeting/getting to know new people . . . and much more.:-)

One thing I like about God: He is a Friend who sticks closer than a brother. He has carried me through so many challenges, and remains ever faithful!

  I love His sense of adventure--and there is no better or more exciting place to be than in His will!

Why are you here? I'm here because I want to know God better.

A favorite Bible verse: Jeremiah 31:26 "At this I awoke and looked, and my sleep was pleasant to me."

Interest(s): Photography, Photoshop, cooking, Rubik's cube, napkin folding.

One thing I like about God: He's a God of the impossible, and He's big enough to handle anything stupid I do.

Why are you here? My goal this year is to grow in my relationship with God and to become more of a man for God.

A favorite Bible verse: Isaiah 40:31 "But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."

Interest(s): Snowboarding, soccer, basketball, football, baseball, playing guitar, skateboarding, hanging with friends, working hard, etc.

One thing I like about God: That our God is all-knowing. He knew me before I was born, He knows everything I go through, how I feel, think, etc. He is understanding, He is the God of the impossible!! And He saved my soul!

Third year

Home: Hobart, NY

Why are you here? Through the previous couple years I have developed a deeper appreciation for what it means to be a true follower of Jesus Christ. A disciple follows the master wherever He goes, and does whatever his master does. He acts like Him, talks like Him, and tries to BE Him. He studies the master's words, and patterns his life after the master's actions. CHRIST is the master, and this year I want to learn more about what it means to be just like Jesus.

A favorite Bible verse: I Samuel 16:7 "Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have rejected him: for God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart."

Interest(s): God, people, following sports (the Red Sox and pretty much any other New England team), playing sports, exercise, reading, outdoors, USA & freedom, strumming my dad's guitar and tooting my trumpet.

One thing I like about God: He never lets me down. I might not hold up my own end of the deal, but God always holds up His. He always does what's best for me, even if it seems to hurt me. He always does what's best for me even if it hurts Him. He never stops loving me, working in me or cheering for me. He is love, unconditional love that never fails and never lets me down.

Third year

Home: Gilboa, NY

Why are you here? I'm at Bible School because I want to be just like Jesus, and here at Bible School is a good place to learn how. I want to take all I get from Bible School and apply it to my goal of being just like Jesus.

A favorite Bible verse: Psalm 18:34 "He trains my hands for war, so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze."

Interest(s): Sports, playing guitar, music, snowboarding, doing things with friends and family.

One thing I like about God: How do you choose just one thing you like about God? There's so much I like about God! But one thing that I like about God is his faithfulness to me. He's not a fairweather friend, only there for me in the good times, but always there for me to go to in the hard times. He knows just how to help me when I don't know what to do, and he never gives up on me when I fall short of the mark, instead helping me to do better next time.

Why are you here? I am here at Bibleschool because this is where God led me to be this year. My goal is to end the year with a better knowledge of the Bible, with more understanding of the Holy Spirit's voice, and with as much of God as I can take.

A favorite Bible verse: Isaiah 41:10 "Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."

Interest(s): Laughing, art & art history, running, phys/anatomy.

One thing I like about God: One thing I like about God is that He cares about even the small details. The seemingly hard and easy problems we have are equally simple for Him to handle. I'm thankful that I can trust Him with every care, every thought, and every aspect of my life.

Why are you here? To get to know God and the Bible better so I can help others to come to Him.

One thing I like about God: His mercy and love for me.

Why are you here? Because God wants me here.

A favorite Bible verse: Isaiah 40:31 "But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar with wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."

Interest(s): Ballroom dancing, photography, art, listening to music, billiards, playing games, baking, reading, and going for walks.

One thing I like about God: He doesn't say "yes" to every prayer. Sometimes He says "no" or "wait." And in the end you know that regardless of which response He gave, your prayer has been answered in the best way possible.

Why are you here? Because I love Jesus, and want to learn how to follow Him the rest of my life.

A favorite Bible verse: Romans 8:28 "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose."

Interest(s): Reading and knitting.

One thing I like about God: His sense of humor, and how he makes you smile.

First year

Home: Sault Ste. Marie, MI

Why are you here? I'm hear because I want the truth of God and want to be his disciple, so I came to learn more about him in this Bible school. I know he makes my way to study his word.

A favorite Bible verse: John 14:6 "Jesus said to him, 'I'm the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father but through me.'"

Interest(s): When I have free time I like to play volleyball or make people laugh.

One thing I like about God: I like God because he is true and when I need help he helps all the time. He never leaves me alone; He always stays with me. John 14:6 says He is the way, the truth. If I look at my life I'm poor; I didn't have money to come to America, but I asked Him to help me and to move me to America. [About the third month after] I asked Him, [about the three mount] He answered my prayer and now I'm in America. I know He is the true God. In my life he has helped me in a lot of ways. One of the Karen sons said we praise God for all the things that He hath done for us. He helped us through the hard stuff and will always be with us if we ask our Lord to continue to with us. And we praise him for everything. God loves his people. He never lets his people down. I like him because I'm his child!

Why are you here? I want to deepen my relationship with Jesus and be conformed to his likness. It is my desire to know Him so well that when others look at me, they see a reflection of Him looking back.

A favorite Bible verse: II Corinthians 3:18 "But we all, with unveiled face beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are transformed into the same image from glory to glory, even as from the Lord the Spirit."

Interest(s): Reading; playing the piano, violin, and guitar; singing; teaching; playing sports.

One thing I like about God: I love the fact that He has already attained the victory over sin and hell. I don't have to wonder or worry about it. I know and can connect with that power.

Why are you here? God told me to come. And I said yes.

A favorite Bible verse: Psalm 37:5 "Commit your way to the LORD; trust in Him, and He will act."

Interest(s): Paintball, hiking, canoeing.

One thing I like about God: God is faithful. When we pray He hears and is consistent in His answers. He doesn't forget. He doesn't overlook and drop me off His schedule.

Why are you here? Because I want to know more of Jesus.

A favorite Bible verse: Psalm 119:107 "I am severely afflicted; give me life, O LORD, according to your word!"

Interest(s): Sports.

One thing I like about God: He has a will for me and loves me.

Kayla

First year

Home: Dublin, NH

Why are you here? Why am I here? Because there's nowhere else I'd rather be! More specifically, however, I'm here because I want to seek God's kingdom FIRST, and for me I think that means coming to Bible school and making God my number one priority before the chaos of life tries to steal my rapt attention from Him. My desire for this year, as Hosea 6:3 puts it, is, "Let us know; let us press on to know the LORD."

A favorite Bible verse: II Corinthians 3:18 "But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord."

Interest(s): Music (violin and singing), art, writing, photography, travelling, sports (volleyball, Frisbee, and basketball).

One thing I like about God: I appreciate the fact that God never changes. He is just as able to work miracles in the world around us today as He was in Bible times, and He's just as able to transform me as He was when He transformed countless others, such as Paul. He's ALWAYS loving, ALWAYS faithful, and always everything we need simply because He's always the same. I find that encouraging not only for my peace of mind, but for fueling my faith in my prayers today.

Why are you here? I am here at Bible school because I want to know Jesus on a deeper level. I am praying that this year will be one in which, "the gaze of [my] soul is upon a saving God" (The Pursuit of God, p. 83 Tozer). I'm so thankful to be in a place where that pursuit is encouraged.

A favorite Bible verse: Psalm 27:8 "When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; My heart said unto thee, Thy face, Jehovah, will I seek."

Interest(s): Exploring the great outdoors, vegetating in the garden, playing with words.

One thing I like about God: To say that I like that God is changeless is to put it mildly. I love God, and I love it that despite human foibles and failures, He remains constant, sure, solid, and trustworthy.

Why are you here? I knew that this is where God wanted me. And because Fairwood is a good place to be when you want to get to know God more. :)

A favorite Bible verse: 1 Peter 3:8 "Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind."

Interest(s): Sports (volleyball), cars (driving), cooking, shopping, hanging out with friends, reading . . .

One thing I like about God: One thing I like about God ... hmmm ... I like that God is an accepting God. Why? Because He accepts me for who I am!

Second year

Home: Gilboa, NY

Why are you here? I came back to Bible school to deepen my relationship with God, to get more out of my devotions, to learn to be content with Jesus, and to be around good people.

A favorite Bible verse: Proverbs 3:5 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways ackowledge Him and He will direct thy paths."

Interest(s): Sports, sewing, crocheting, playing the piano, animals, being outside.

One thing I like about God: That He loves me just the way I am but refuses to leave me that way. That He cares about me, and that He knows how to make me happy.

Mercy

First year

Home: Sault Ste. Marie, MI.

Why are you here? To learn more about God and to build a very close relationship with God.

A favorite Bible verse: Isaiah 41:10 "Don't be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand."

Interest(s): Cooking, reading, hanging out with family and friends, listening to music.

One thing I like about God: "God is Love" no matter how bad I am or good I am, he always loves me and cares for me. He doesn't give me anything I can't handle.

Why are you here? I want to get to know more about God and learn to live the way he wants me to. I am here getting ready to work for him.

One thing I like about God: I love everything about God. :) One thing I love the most about God: God is powerful and merciful. God is so amazing, He created everything that we aren't able to understand. Nothing is impossible to God. No one can understand how God works. Powerful and amazing and merciful!
